Day Camp (Ages 6-15)

The day camp program runs Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM – 5:30 PM. Lunch is offered for an additional fee. 

As a day camper, you will choose between various activities that camp has to offer during the morning periods.  In the afternoon, you will participate in 2 choice periods, rest hour, and 1 period of free time.

Junior Camp (Ages 8-12)

As a junior camper, you will reside in a cabin with 2 counselors, 1 CIT (Counselor in Training), and up to 9 campers. All cabins at camp have electricity and are located near a centralized bathhouse with hot water and showers!  If campers are coming with friends or families, it is not an issue for us to place them in the same cabin as they long as they are the same gender and about the same age.

In the morning, there are 3 activities, and each period junior campers choose one of 2 options. For example, for their first period class campers might have to choose between nature and sports. Campers pick the option that they like the best!

In the afternoon, you participate in 2 choice periods, rest hour, and 2 periods of free time.

Teen Camp (Ages 13-15)

As a teen camper, you will reside in either the Hillside cabins, Hilltop, Blackberry, or Blueberry cabin. Each cabin has 1-2 counselors depending on size.  All cabins have electricity and are located near a centralized bath house with hot water and showers!  If campers are coming with friends or families, it is not an issue for us to place them in the same cabin as you as long as your are the same gender and about the same age.

In the morning, teen campers participate in a track of activities that they choose on Sunday. In the afternoon, there are 2 choice periods, rest hour, and 2 periods of free time.

At night, teen camp stays up an extra hour to participate in teen evening program.  The extra program offers campers the chance to do some fun activities while “hanging out” with other teens at camp. Past activities have included night swims, wacky games, and campfires.

LIT Program

The LIT (Leaders in Training) Program is designed for campers aged 13-15 who would like to continue their day camp experience. The program is day camp specific, so campers participating would be a part of the program from 8:30am-5:30pm each day.  As an LIT, you will be required to attend daily instructional meetings with the LIT Director, where you will receive instruction on different aspects of camp life. As an LIT, campers will work with a day camp group, where they will support counselors with the supervision of campers as well as receive hands-on training on how to be a leader in the camp community.

Campers part of the LIT program are allowed to become overnight campers on weeks separate from their LIT weeks.  Lunch is included in the program.  LIT’s can partake in the day camp transportation program, for an additional fee.

LIT’s choose to attend either session A, B, or C. Session A is from July 1-5 and 7-12, Session B is from July 15-19 and July 22-26, and Session C is from July 29- Aug 2 and August 5-9.

As an LIT, you will be required to attend LIT Weekend, held on May 17-19 . During that weekend campers will attend some workshops and participate in team building activities with other LIT’s.

Interested campers are encouraged to become a part of the LIT program. Applications are due by April 15th of each year.  It is then that the LIT Director will choose the applications that will be the best fit into the program.

CIT Program

The CIT Program seeks to train talented individuals aged 14-16 to become leaders in the camping community. The program is divided into CIT I and II, with the CIT II’s having more responsibilities to complete. As a CIT, you will be required to attend daily instructional meetings with the CIT Director, where you will receive instruction on different aspects of camp life. Topics include: child development, discipline of campers, special needs, health and safety, programming, and staff responsibilities. You will also work in a program and cabin area under the direction of a senior counselor, who will serve as your mentor.

CIT’s choose to attend either session A, B, or C. Session A is from June 30- July 12, Session B is from July 14-26, and Session C is from July 28-August 9.

CIT’s are required to attend CIT Weekend, which is held on May 17-19. During that weekend CIT’s will attend some workshops and participate in team building activities with other CIT’s.

If campers are interested in becoming a CIT, then an application form is required.  Applications are due by April 15th of each year.  It is then that the CIT Director will choose the applications that will be the best fit into the program.

Big Events & Evening Programs

Each week at Camp Middlesex is a different theme!  Each night, overnight campers participate in programming that ties in with the theme of the week.  Evening programs vary from week to week.  Some of the evening programs that campers have enjoyed have been camp-wide capture the flag, lip sync, decorate your cabin night, and camp-wide games.

Every Wednesday night the camp walks to town for the band concert and Thursday nights are always the dance!

Every Thursday afternoon both day and overnight campers have a fun event based on the theme of the week.  Some of the favorites have included the International Olympics, Color War, Counselor Hunt, and Gold Rush.

The themes and programs change every week, so be sure to sign up for the events you are most excited about!

Weekend Sessions

If campers stay for one of the 2-week sessions, they will participate in some neat camp activities over the weekend!  Campers roast marshmallows at our fire area, go to a camp trip on Saturday, and watch a movie on the big screen on Saturday night.

Programs

Camp Middlesex offers a wide-variety of programs for campers to choose from.  Campers are offered choice in planning their programs.  In the morning, program choices rotate depending on age.  In the afternoon, campers choose a program of interest which allows them to work on a project that lasts the week.
